KE: All Africa Games Blitz Championship 2011 – Results

To cap off the All Africa Games chess event, a blitz tournament was held for participants in both sections–open and ladies.

In the open section, GM Adly Ahmed of Egypt won the Gold medal with 7.5 points out of 9, while the Silver went to FM Jere Daniel of Zambia and the Bronze to FM Goutali Tarek of Algeria, both having scored 7 points at the end of the championship.

From the Kenyan open team, Mehul Gohil, Ben Magana and Githinji Hinga ended the tournament at positions 22, 28 and 38 of 41 participants with 4.5, 4 and 3 points each respectively.

In the ladies section, WIM Amina Mezioud of Algeria took home the Gold with 8.5 points out of 9, while Egyptian WGM Mona Khaled walked away with the Silver for her 7 points. The Bronze went to WIM Monique Sischy of South Africa who ended the 9-round tournament with 6 points.

Kenya ladies Gloria Jumba, Isabelle Asiema and Rehema Khimulu ended the tournament at positions 20, 23 and 24 of 24 participants with 3.5, 2 and 0 points each respectively.
