KE: Strathmore Chess Tournament – Results

A total of 49 university students and other individuals participated at the Strathmore Chess Tournament that concluded on Sunday, 25th September, making it one of the most well-attended tournaments of recent times in Nairobi.

Some of the institutions represented were: Strathmore University, Kenyatta University (KU), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Kenya Poly, Daystar University and The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).

In the open category, Jacktone Mony of KU emerged on top, followed by Edward Oluoch in second place and Joseph Methu of JKUAT in third place.

In the ladies category, Juliet Kimiri of KU won first prize, followed by Isabelle Asiema of CUEA and Winrose Nyota of KU with second and third prizes respectively.

In the team event, Kenyatta University (KU) was the overall winner, followed closely by Strathmore University in second place and Kenya Poly in third place.
