Uganda’s Elijah Emojong secured his fifth win in the ninth round after beating India’s Karthik V. Ap rated 1978 in the Mumbai Mayor’s Cup International Open Chess Tournament that ends on Saturday 24th September 2011.
The win put Emojong on 5.5 points out of a possible 9. He has so far won five, drawn one and lost three including one against a Grandmaster.
He is now scheduled to take on Indian International Master (IM) Singh D. P rated 2344 in a tenth round game to be played on Friday 23rd September 2011.
Good results in the remaining games could help the Ugandan youngster to improve on his international rating points. Emojong is currently rated 2156.
