Uganda’s FIDE Master Elijah Emojong beat India’s Saraf Pankaj (rated 1993) in the seventh round of the ongoing Piloo Modi International Chess Tournament in India.
The Ugandan now has six wins and one loss in seven games. He has previously beaten Mayank Pandey (rated 1779), Avinash Yaday (rated 1256), Sushil Kumar Srivastava (rated 1457), Virendra Kumar Girsa (rated 1810) and Shersingh Chauvan (rated 1902).
The seventh round win put him in 12th position out of 150 participants after 7 rounds. There are 4 more rounds to go. Leading the standings with 7 points out of 7 is India’s Raj Kamal Singh Sandhu.
In the eighth round, Emojong was pitied against Ravi Kumar who has a rating of 2185. The opponent’s rating is slightly higher than Emojong’s 2111.
