UG: Kamoga, Nsubuga Take the Lead in National Chess Championship

Rajab Kamoga and National Junior Chess Champion, Haruna Nsubuga are enjoying an early lead in the National Chess Championship after three rounds with three points each out of a possible three.

To attain this feat, Kamoga beat Christopher Turyahabwe while Nsubuga beat veteran Joe Kaamu in the third round. Defending champion Harold Wanyama is closely following the leaders with 2.5 points after he was pegged back in the third round with a draw against fellow title favourite Simon Gonza in the third round.

Also on 2.5 points is former Olympian Isaac Munanira who drew with Farouk Fauza.

FM Elijah Emojong missed the first two rounds and only joined the fray in the third round and picked up a point.
