Former Olympians Harold Wanyama and Shadrack Kantinti are in a joint lead alongside Walter Okas, Daniel Baagadde and Wilson Mugwanya with three points each after the first three rounds in the ongoing Rwabushenyi Memorial Chess Championship.
To attain this feat, Wanyama beat Kenya’s Githinji Hinga, Kantinti beat Mike Akabu, Baagadde beat Rajab Kamoga, Okas beat Micheal Mawanda and Mugwanya beat Farouk Fauza in the third round.
The third round also witnessed a series of draws featuring big names with Grace Nsubuga being held by Mathias Ssonko, Bob Bibasa drew with Vianney Luggya, Kenneth Kakooza drew with Joe Kaamu and Kenya’s Matthew Kanegeni drew with youngster Richard Tugume. Tugume had earlier on upset National Champion, Arthur Ssegwanyi in the first round.
