To celebrate the success of a petition by the chess players for an overhaul in the administration of chess in Kenya and the subsequent appointment of an Interim Chess Kenya Committee to run and manage chess affairs in the country, ChessPAK (Chess Players Association of Kenya) has announced the hosting of the ‘International Mujengeres Open’ tournament on Sunday, 6th May 2012 at Bowling Green Restaurant. Time: 9 am to 5 pm
Venue: Bowling Green Restaurant, City Park, Parklands
Category: Open
Mode of Play: 7 rounds Swiss system
Time Control: 25 minutes per player to finish the game
Participation Fee:
- Seniors – KES 400 (KES 300 in advance)
- Juniors – KES 300 (KES 200 in advance)
Registration Deadline: Saturday, 5th May
Prizes:
- 1st Place – Medal + KES 5,000/-
- 2nd to 5th Place – Medals + cash prizes to be announced later
- Best Lady – Medal + KES 1,000/-
- Best Junior – Medal + KES 1,000/-
- Runner-Up Junior – Medal + KES 500/-
PLEASE NOTE:
- This tournament is open to all.
- Deadline for payment of the tournament participation fee is Saturday, 5th May 2012 and can be made via M-PESA to ChessPAK Treasurer George Nderitu on 0722 228 009 (add a withdrawal fee of KES 25 per entry).
- FIDE tournament rules will apply and the arbiter’s decision will be final.
