Uganda’s FM Elijah Emojong beat Nigeria’s Emmanuel Maduagwuna and Christine Namaganda beat Nigeria’s National Ladies Champion Asanga Nsisong on Tuesday 19 June 2012 in the fourth round of the ongoing Zone 4.2 Africa Chess Championship in Abuja, Nigeria.
The wins put both Ugandans at 3 points out of a possible 4. They have each won three games and lost one.
FIDE Master Emojong is striving to get an International Master title by winning this event. It will however be a tall order for him as he is yet to face two more International Masters including one from Nigeria and the highest rated in the event, Egypt’s Sameh Sadek (rated 2378).
