    Hi, greetings and salutations to all.

    I have a problem that needs your help. I need to establish the where abouts of a Mr. Wilhelm Goert Boonzaier during the time period 1948 to 1058. Mr Boonzaier was born in 1919 and died in 1979.

    Mr Boonzaier was a chess champion for the old South West Africa now called Namibia.

    Mr. Boonzaier was also a big game hunter who hunted in kenya.

    could you please inform me If your chess club has any record of Mr. Boonzaier visiting your club and playing against your club champion during the late 1940′s through to 1960′s

    If your chess club is new, could you please ask around and find older chess clubs who might be able to shed some light on Mr. Boonzaiers movements during the late 1940′s through to 1960.

    Your help will be appreciated as we are busy tracing the history of a very special chess set that was hand carved from elephant Ivory and Rhino horn by a group of gun bearers after a hunting incident where Mr. Boonzaier shot a charging buffalo which died at the feet of his chief gun bearer who was also a tribal elder.

    It is alleged that this incident took place in 1952 / 1953 and we are trying to find paper work that can corroborate this story.

    I will be sending  an email to all chess clubs in Kenya looking for these records. any help is appreciated.

      Hillary, Poly Chess Club is very much in existence.The team even participates in tournaments. Better yet they even have lady players!….try calling Armon the captain,(0716399178) they probably changed the venue.
